Prince William is heading to Germany next week to watch England’s Euro 2024 match against Denmark.

The prince, who is president of the FA, will be attending the match at Frankfurt Arena on June 20, Kensington Palace announced.

It comes as the Prince of Wales stepped back from royal duties after King Charles and the Princess of Wales announced their cancer diagnoses.

Meanwhile, a couple of the royals will be out and about at engagements this Wednesday, ahead of the Trooping of the Colour on Saturday.

The Duke of Edinburgh is set to take a tour of some gardens, while the Princess Royal is visiting the University of London.

Royal author and expert Tom Quinn has told theMirror that Prince Harry has been asked directly by his father not to write or say publicly anything further about the family or his brother that might cause trouble.

He added: ‘And everyone knows that when a king asks you to do something there are going to be consequences if you do not obey.

‘Over the years that Harry has complained about his treatment by his family he has had just one aim – to get an apology and to see his father and brother make amends.

‘Harry just can’t see that complaining in private might work; complaining publicly just makes things worse and in Harry’s case that means more and more ties to his past being severed.’

Why does King Charles III have two birthdays?

    Sarah Hooper

While a second birthday is something the rest of us could only dream of, the English monarch celebrates two birthdays each year.

King Charles has carried on the tradition ofTrooping the Colour, whichdates all the way back to 1748.

As a result, he does indeed mark two birthdays – the official one, which traditionally takes place on a Saturday in June, and his actual date of birth, on November 14.

The first sovereign to have two birthday events was King Charles’s distant relative, King George II – who wished to throw a public celebration, complete with a parade and plenty of pomp and circ*mstance.

However, having also been born in November, the odds of the weather holding out for a huge outdoor bash in the UK were pretty slim.

Instead, the monarch decided to use the UK’s annual military parade held in the summer as his official birthday celebration.

He would therefore mark hisbirthdaytwice – once publicly in June, and once privately in November.

Prince William is off to the Euros

    Katie Boyden

As mentioned above, the Prince of Wales is off to Germany next week to watch England play Denmark in the group stages of Euro 2024.

He visited the squad on Monday to wish them good luck before they jetted off, presenting shirts to all 26 players.

William faced criticism last year after not attending the England women’s team’s World Cup final against Spain in Sydney, in his role as FA president.

It was the first time the Lionesses had reached the final of a World Cup, and the first time an England football team had competed in a World Cup final since the men’s side beat West Germany in 1966.

The Prince will most likely be taking the trip alone, as Princess Kate is still away from public duties, and as the match is on a Thursday night it’s unlikely either George, Charlotte or Louis will be allowed to go.

Queen Camilla is visiting the Garden Museum

The Queen is visiting the Garden Museum in Lambeth this afternoon to see the Gardening Bohemia exhibition.

She’ll be meeting Alan Titchmarsh as well as florist Shane Connolly, who designed the floral arrangements for the coronation last year.

The museum explores and celebrates the art, history and design of British gardens and their place in our lives today.

Gardening Bohemia explores gardens connected to Virginia Woolf, Vanessa Bell, Vita Sackville-West and Ottoline Morrell.

Camilla will also visit a ‘Clay for Dementia’ session, hosted by ceramicist Katie Sprag. The free classes, which have been running since 2017, allow for people with dementia and their carers to get involved in a fun, creative and social activity.

The Princess Royal is handing out investitures today.

There are about 20 investitures hosted every year, and every person awarded an honour is presented with their insigna by a member of the royal family.

They’re usually held in the ballroom at Buckingham Palace, and are usually hosted by the King, Princess Royal, or the Prince of Wales.

Today Lady Amis has received the insignia of a Knight Bachelor conferred on her late husband, Sir Martin Amis, recognising his services to literature.

King Charles plans first overnight trip since cancer diagnosis in July

    Katie Boyden

Both King Charles and Queen Camilla have announced plans to visit the Channel Islands next month – his first overnight trip since announcing his cancer diagnosis.

The visit, planned for July 15, will be the first time a British monarch has visited Jersey in nearly two decades. The king and queen will first visit Jersey before heading on to Guernsey the next day.

During their time on Jersey the king and queen will visit the States Assembly and Royal Court, with the rest of the visit would be mainly focused in St Helier.

In Guernsey, the royals are due to meet local politicians and see a centuries-old ceremony of homage to the king, held outdoors on the St Peter Port seafront where islanders can watch.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will then go to Crown Pier to discover more about the island’s environment and heritage.

Full details of the trip haven’t been released yet, but Lieutenant-Governor of Jersey Jerry Kyd said he was ‘absolutely delighted’ about the visit.

The last time a king or queen visited the Channel Islands was when Queen Elizabeth took a trip to Jersey in 2005.

Charles and Camilla previously visited the Bailiwick of Guernsey in 2012, back when they were the Prince of Wales and duch*ess of Cornwall.

The Princess Royal and Duke of Edinburgh will be attending a couple of events today.

She’s also set to attend a dinner at Brunswick Group in her role as president of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conferences.

Meanwhile Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, is visiting the Regimental Headquarters at Wellington Barracks as part of his role as Colonel of the Scots Guards.

He will also take a tour of the London Gardens, as he’s patron of the London Gardens Society.
