Google Sites Is Great & Has A Lot of Potential for Drive Users

5.02 years ago

Comments:I've always used Google Sites at companies I work where we utilize Drive, and it works great to easily create a content repository that can be shared with the same permissions as Drive.

Pros:

How easy it is to create a site from all of your Google Drive content and that the permissions are in alignment with Drive.

Cons:

I wish had more robust customization options on the UI side and that you could integrate more with it.

Wix Enterprise

A great option for the non-technical who just need basic features

4.0last year

Comments:Overall, I am very happy with Sites and think it is a great tool for building basic web pages. While it does lack some of the features that the bigger website builders like Wix and Squarespace have, it also lacks the big price tag those services have. I think Sites is the perfect tool for building basic websites for small businesses, classes, and clubs, but would struggle to handle the needs of bigger more established businesses. For us, we primarily use Sites to build internal pages, so it meets our needs well.

Pros:

I really love how easy it is to edit and publish pages and sites with Google Sites. Google Sites has a good variety of templates and themes to choose from and the drag-and-drop interface makes editing simple even for those who know nothing about CMSs or web development. The content blocks, Google services integrations, and simple, easy-to-use interface is what makes Google Sites shine. Also, the integration with Google Domains makes it easy to set up a custom domain for your site if you need one.

Cons:

Google Sites is pretty capable for what it is, but lacks a lot of features that pros need to adequately customize their sites. The lack of support for things like HTML editing, scripts, and third-party integrations makes customization a challenge and hampers the ability for Google Sites to be used on a professional basis. Sites also lacks some really important features like contact forms, password-protected pages, and blog functionality.

Simple Site-Building Tool

4.03 weeks agoNew

Comments:Google Sites is so approachable and accessible to web designers of all experience levels. I have really enjoyed using it in my classroom to introduce web design and digital publishing of content. The integration of other Google products in the Sites layout is also a plus!

Pros:

Google Sites impact lies in its ease of use. Those completely unfamiliar with site construction and layouts will find it a bit complicated at first, but the learning curve is very low. Once users dabble a bit into the features and experiment with the designs, Google Sites is very easy to use. It's a great way to introduce web design and to create an inexpensive (even free) simple site.

Cons:

Google Sites isn't anything flashy, and that's okay. There's little to complain about here; Google Sites isn't designed to be the top-of-the-line web design tool. As long as a user is willing to play around a bit and put more than a few minutes in, Google Sites is a great tool for all web designers.

Great for small projects and learning web design

3.04 months ago

Comments:Great tool from google for people trying to understand website design for the first time. Website can be created fast from templates but is missing that "professional " feel.

Pros:

With bunch of templates for website it is easy to develop your site that looks ok and does not required coding skills.

Cons:

Still can not be used for bigger website project and blogging. It is missing additional plugins for specific use.

Pros:

Google sites is really easy to configure and brings the most basic functionalities natively.

Cons:

It does not have any options for advance users or requirements, parallax, protected hidden pages, or even options for add-ons. In short, only usable for basic features

Squarespace

Great Value for Simple Sites

4.02 years ago

Comments:Overall it's been a perfect fit for my small business to get a simple site setup. I suspect I'll outgrow it at some point and move to something like Squarespace.

Pros:

I use Google for almost all aspects of my small business, including email, domain registration, phone (Google Voice), documents, and much more. It's very convenient that I'm able to include my website bundled with all this - both from a billing and administration perspective. The designer is simple to use and produces designs that look clean and are responsive.Publishing is as easy as clicking a button and you can work on large updates in staging before pushing them live.

Cons:

The designer is very restrictive, meaning there is little opportunity to move outside of the provided template. I've also worked with Squarespace in the past, which provides a lot more customization and power (but is much more expensive too). There's a pretty limited set of widgets you can use (photo carousels, etc.). All the main ones are there, but I have found myself often settling for something not quite ideal. Even customizing backgrounds on the sections is oddly limited, you can really only select a background image to use.I haven't worked with a team on my small business site (just me making updates), but I used to work on a very large website for a past employer. I don't think the system would work well from a version control perspective, so do your research if you're thinking about having more than one person work on a site.

Simple Interface for Web Design

4.08 months ago

Comments:I like using this for designing websites for my students to use to access class materials. I also sometimes have students use it for their own project web design. It is simple and reliable.

Pros:

I really like how simple the interface is for both faculty and students to use and create. It has lots of options for design and tools.

Cons:

I wish there were a few more tools and widgets available for unique web elements that may be necessary in a class.

Comments:It is very possible to craft a collaborative project website effortlessly using Google Sites. Its intuitive interface allowed seamless content integration from Google Docs and Slides. Real-time collaboration enabled team members to edit and refine the site concurrently, resulting in a unified, informative, and visually engaging online platform.

Pros:

Google Sites seamlessly integrates with my other Google Workspace applications, allowing me to embed Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and other content directly into my site.

Cons:

Google Sites' customization options are more limited compared to other website builders or platforms.

Google Sites creates small business sites with it. I recommend it to anyone who works in it in order to learn how to make a site. These are important applied skills

Pros:

Its advantages are honestly not many:* Increased ease of use by simple and smooth.* You can create a website in any language.* A site can be associated with Google Search Console.* HTML thing can be added.*Marketing articles can also be placed at the top of Google.* Create Landing Page All type Leads + Link Auto Responder Mail email Marketing.

Cons:

cons :* Does not support templates such as WordPress.* A site via Google Adsense is not accepted.* It is not advanced and does not have many features.* There is no Plugin in it.* Limited good.

Anyone can design a web page

4.02 years ago

Comments:In general, my experience with Sites has been very good, it is a very easy-to-use service that anyone can use, and the creation of the website is fast and intuitive. Google integration is great, you can use a great free domain. In general, if you want to create a web page, Google Sites should be an option to consider.

Pros:

The best thing about Google Sites is how easy it is to create web pages anyone can make one, without the need to know how to program or anything. It has the necessary tools to create a web page, which allows it to have a spotless and intuitive interface. Also, the integration with the entire Google ecosystem is excellent, especially with Google Drive. Sites is a very useful and well-thought-out program.

Cons:

The bad thing is that it has few tools, it is a very simple program, but that harms the personalization of web pages. You need better quality templates.

So so easy to use and deploy

5.02 years ago

Comments:We use it for an internal employee Intranet to share resources and support team communication across locations. It has been so helpful to organize information for our teams and make resources available immediately and easy to locate.

Pros:

We love the fact that it's so easy to use and deploy. Real-time editing, integration with other google products, the ability to use advanced functionality. Minimal time required to learn, no support required. It integrates seamlessly and effortlessly with all other google applications and with some advanced coding skills can make use of advanced functionality. It has improved communication and sharing of resources exponentially for us.

Cons:

There is nothing we don't love about it. It exceeds our expectations in every way.

Even for Sales Enablement? Yes! Google Sites helps in any mission!

5.02 years ago

Comments:This is really an easy site tool that will help you in many missions - like your Playbooks, internal product sites, or training missions. Super easy to setup and update. Everything seems that was done by a pro.

Pros:

Easy to setup and share. Real time updates like no other. You can create sites, in special internal, and put it running with many features and resources combined with Google Tech Stack like Google Workspace.

Cons:

Poor templates. Could have a better site link alias to make things easy. But not a bit issue.

Sites - The Perfect Addition to Workspace

4.0last year

Comments:Overall, if you use Google Workspace as a whole, then Sites will work GREAT in your organization. It seamlessly flows with all other Workspace products and is easy to use / manage.

Pros:

The biggest pro of Google Sites is the ease and usability of the product. This product has a set limit of possibilities in terms of structure, and capabilities -which makes onboarding very easy. Additionally, the ease at which it connects to other Google Workspace platforms like Docs, Forms and Sheets is extremely seamless. You can easily link and display other Workspace documents.

Cons:

If you are a more experienced user hoping to have more control over the design of your site, then this product may be too simple. There is currently no "advance user" functions that allow a user to add their own formatting via HTML, etc. You have to be okay with the set template options.

Easy to develop high qulaity page

4.02 years ago

Comments:As we integrated general information of the company such as an announcement, a phone extension and etc.., the employees can collect information on thier own withou asking anyone else (Man-hours saving)

Pros:

Although you don't have knowledge of the programming skills, you can develope a stylish page including trends these days.Basically all you just have to do is to add layouts, text and images selecting from tool bar.

Cons:

I think it is better to improve the "Image carousel" feature because in the current version, it is not possible to insert the link on the image as a standard feature.

Great for building internal sites for your team or company

4.02 years ago

Comments:Overall, Google Sites has been very useful for our company. Considering it doesn't cost us anything additional, our ROI for using Google Sites is realized very quickly.

Pros:

Google Sites is very easy to use. We're able to make stunning and modern-looking websites without coding.

Cons:

Layout and customization is understandably quite limited. I just wished there's more options for more advanced users.

Simple and easy to use

4.0last year

Comments:Overall, I would highly recommend Google sites. It is the best free website builder online and integrates seamlessly with other google products and services.

Pros:

What I like the most about this software is how simple and easy it is to use. Someone with very little experience in coding or website design can create a website in a very short space of time.

Cons:

What I least like about Google sites is that it lacks better templates, personal customization is very limited and adding a drop and drag payment gateway to your website would be good too.

An excellent option for small businesses who are already using Google Workspace

5.02 years ago

Comments:Like it. It's very easy to use, each for a user with 0 knowledge of how to build a website, they can make a professionally looking site in a short amount of time.

Pros:

This service is a hidden gem included in Google Workspace subscriptions. If you are already using Google Workspace, the chance is you don't need to pay extra to use this site-building service similar to Wix or Squarespace. As a small business, we were looking for a tool to build and host our company website - doesn't need to be fancy. We evaluated Wix and a couple of other tools, and eventually decided Google Sites was the best fit - for its simplicity and seamless integration with Google Workspace (which my employees already have).

Cons:

The customer service was not very helpful. When we set up our site, it was impossible to associate a top-level domain (other than the domain linked to Google Workspace, which has to be the same domain the user uses) with the site - this is a little inconvenient - I hope it can be improved in the future.
