Andrew F. Ridenour

Andrew Francis "Andy" Ridenour, 84, of 1747 Edgewood Hills Circle, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at his home.

Born Feb. 5, 1912, in Mount Lena, he was the son of the late Elmer S. and Elizabeth M. Schaul Ridenour.

He was employed with Railway Express for 35 years and was the owner of Dual Motel for 31 years.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1936. He was a member of Eagles Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa.; American Legion Post 42; B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378; Knights of Columbus, fourth degree; and a former member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 212.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy W. Ridenour; one daughter, Dottie Ann DiPoli of Waldorf, Md.; two sons, A. Wells Ridenour of Boonsboro and David E. Ridenour of Hagerstown; one sister, Helen Gibney of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378 will conduct a memorial service at 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Zion Reformed Church, 201 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Leola V. Miller

WILLIAMSPORT - Leola V. Miller, 84, of 16505 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996, at her home.

Born May 9, 1912, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Eva G. Snyder Ebersole.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger F.G. Miller, who died in 1993.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was a member of Potomac Garden Club, Women's Club and an assistant treasurer of Homewood Residents Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Judith A. Hill of Hagerstown; one son, John Franklin Miller of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.; one sister, Eva G. Wolf of Lafollette, Tenn.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of North Potomac and Randolph streets, Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. Hagerstown, today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Medow Metha Hovermale

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Medow Metha Hovermale, 91, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.

Born April 10, 1905, at Unger's Store, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Etta Bishop Stotler.

She was employed at A.C. Unger's Canning Factory in Unger's Store, A.C. Unger's Canning Factory in North Berkeley Springs and Little Miss Canning Factory in Berkeley Springs.

She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, in Morgan County, W.Va. She also was a homemaker in recent years.

She was a member of AARP.

She is survived by two daughters, Viola E. Steiner, of Berkeley Springs and Geraldine M. Trail, of Hanco*ck; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-granchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and one niece.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Medford Stotler and Bennie Stotler; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. William C. Swope will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland United Methodist Church Cemetery in Morgan County.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday for the convenience of friends.

Mary Jane Statler

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mary Jane Statler, 71, of 9386 McClanahan Road, Greencastle, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996 at her home.

Born May 10, 1925, near Shady Grove, Pa., she was the daughter of Florence Simmers Fox and the late John J. Fox.

She was a 1943 graduate of Greencastle High School.

She was a former employee at Frick Co. in Waynesboro and was a homemaker.

She was a charter member of the Calvary Bible Church near Greencastle and actively served on numerous church committees.

She was a volunteer at Quincy United Methodist Home and was a skilled seamstress.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles H. Statler; four daughters, Cheryl Burkholder of Fayetteville, Pa., Julie Statler, of Macungie, Pa., Torncee Phillippy, of Chambersburg, Pa., and Carol Rockwell, of Greencastle, Pa.; three sons, Terry L. Statler of Chambersburg, Tim C. Statler, of Greencastle, and John R. Statler, of Shady Grove, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. from the Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle. The Rev. Glen A. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Quincy, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., in Greencastle, and at the church one hour before the service on Friday.

Dorothy A. Fishack

Dorothy A. Fishack, 64, of Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 29, 1931, in Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Clyde B. "Jim" and Lois Miller Fishack.

She worked at the State Board of Education in Baltimore, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of the Maryland Classified Employees Association and AARP.

She is survived by one sister, Belva L. Trantules of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard M. Fishack.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. The Rev. Richard Hembrock will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday fom 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Meade W. Stahle

LAVALE, Md. - Meade W. Stahle, 77, of LaVale, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, Md.

Born Feb. 28, 1919, in Buck Valley, Pa., he was the son of the late Lewis and Bertha Wigfield Stahle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Myreta Stahle, in 1991.

He retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Co.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II.

He was a member of LaVale Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue Pritts of Cumberland and Lois Myers of Short Gap, W.Va.; one brother Dale Stahle of Hanover, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Louella Schomburg; and one brother Cloyd Stahle.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary,1302 National Highway, LaVale. The Rev. Doug Strother will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the Hafer Chapel today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Della V. Lentz

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Della V. Lentz, 79, formerly of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996, at Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born May 27, 1917, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late O.A. and Cora Morrow Lentz.

She is survived by one daughter, Kay Gregory of Martinsburg; two sisters, Hilda Detter of Martinsburg, and Mary Custer of Ocala, Fla.; two brothers, Lester Lentz of Berryville, Va., and Stuart F. Lentz of Martinsburg; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Houser; and one brother, James R. Lentz.

Private graveside services will be held at Rosedale Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Rimmer will officiate.

Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Freda J. Dofflemyer

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Freda J. Dofflemyer, 75, of Ocean City, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Julia Reese.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings L. Dofflemyer, in 1991.

She was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, during World War II. She owned apartments in Ocean City.

She was a former member of the Women's Club of Ocean City.

She is survived by three sons, William L. Dofflemyer and Gregory B. Anspacher, both of Ocean City, and Robert L. Dofflemyer of Waldorf, Md.; one sister, Betty Wolfe of Clear Spring; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ullrich Funeral Home, U.S. 50, Berlin, Md. The Rev. Merle L. Fisher Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
