    You are amazing! What a great way to bring insight to private sector employers. This should be posted on multiple media platforms to help start the conversation on an untapped resource for employers. Being a Law Enforcement Professional requires a multitude of skills that many private sector business professionals don't have. Employers and Head Hunters need to think beyond the "status quo" and recognize how valuable this untapped resource of multi-level skill-set hires can transfer to a private sector professional level. More importantly LEPs need to recognize and promote themselves—Believe to Achieve. I see a TED Talk in your future!!

    In The News: In Tulsa, Oklahoma, a concerning shortage of police officers, with 160 vacant positions and a population of 411,000, has intensified public safety concerns.Mayor G.T. Bynum addressed the negative portrayal of officers in the media, emphasizing its impact on recruitment and the careers of existing officers. This shortage is a national issue, reflected in a 4% decline in law enforcement jobs from March 2020 to August 2022.Challenges include low applicant numbers, poor applicant quality, background check disqualifications, generational differences, and increased scrutiny on law enforcement. In my opinion, officers should be paid an enormous amount of money, which is why I am not a city manager; my talents are better suited to law enforcement. Money is undoubtedly important as it provides stability and comfort. The salary you receive at the Ankeny Police Department will provide that stability and comfort. However, being paid well is only a small part of the job and cannot match the emotional, physical, and mental currency you will invest into the profession.We are seeking individuals who will contribute positively to our culture, and help us maintain a successful, positive, and safe work environment. We want people who understand what they are getting into. Law enforcement is a different kind of job. On patrol, you won't get every other weekend off. Work/life balance is very important to our department, and we make every effort to make sure you achieve that balance.
