Juneteenth is just around the corner, and this year, there are several ways you can celebrate this important milestone in American history right here in Vermont.Juneteenth is a federally-recognized holiday that celebrates the day that enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were told that they were free. The first Juneteenth is recognized as June 19, 1865.See the full list of events happening this year across our region.Burlington - June 15, 2024 from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.Burlington is hosting more than 50 artists, musicians, and discussions for its annual Juneteenth celebration, with performers and events spread out across City Hall Park, the Contois Auditorium, on the Church Street Marketplace and at Burlington City Arts. Other events include a gospel brunch, poetry readings and comedy. All events are free and open to the public.
